Eight Immortals Oolong (八仙)

Moonlit's first 单丛 or "single bush" heirloom teas from the Phoenix Mountains! Home of China's most tricky to brew, but distinctly expressive oolongs thanks to hyperspecific cultivars & the mountains' clay-rich patches of soil.

This particular OG cultivar gets its dramatic name from both the legendary Eight Immortals - famed heroes of Daoist tradition & many Chinese visual arts - and the eight parent tea bushes that survived a great Ming Dynasty era fire. (Ironically, one of these trees additionally got struck by lightning & survived again...leading to yet another variety 😅🌱 Poor thing couldn't catch a break)

Our Bā Xiān brews a sun-gold liquor, softly complex & balanced in body. We find the flavor layers range from orange blossom, to dry Viognier, woodsy peach, sweet potato, and white florals depending on your palette!

Much like its namesake – a motley troupe of deities with different social backgrounds & talents – we find this tea a diverse but economically approachable intro to the wild world of Phoenix Dancongs.
