[Red Robe Reserve] | [大红袍] | Dark Oolong
The legendary poster child of China's Wuyi Mountains. Toasty and biscuity with hints of orchid and roasted chestnuts. Now from a higher-grade artisan, batch, & new harvest.
This auburn delicacy has its roots in a rare Camellia sinensis cultivar from Wuyi - the home of all oolong teas. It attains its signature mineral-sweet profile from growing in craggy cliffside terroir, along with 400 years of traditionally crafting and honing the Ming Dynasty's original Red Robe (or "Da Hong Pao"), popularized in the Qing dynasty as the "King of Rock Teas". A must-try for new tea adventurers, & easy gift choice for any tea aficionado (unless they prefer green and white teas).
As with our original Red Robe Oolong batch, we sought after a high-quality Da Hong Pao that wouldn't break new tea fans' bank. We're proud to say our new artisan & batch fit the bill for those ready for the next level in tea quality - without jumping to exorbitantly heights.
For starters we recommend brewing 4-5g of leaves (less than our lighter oolongs) with 8oz of 208*F water. Steep no longer than 2 minutes for the first two cups, but steep the 3rd serving longer as the tea fades.
For this quality & type of tea, no "rinsing/washing" is necessary! If you prefer a stronger cup, more tea or steep time can be committed into each brew.
